Our environment plays a crucial role in every area of our lives. It’s important to remember this when it comes to your health as well. If you are in an unhealthy environment, you are more likely to participate in unhealthy things. Just as kids tend to act badly when they around other “bad” kids, the same rules would apply to you if you are in an unhealthy environment. Of course there are some exceptions to these rules, but why risk it.
In most cases we need to create all new habits or a new culture in our lives. It takes 21 days to build a habit and with that in mind you really need pay close attention to whats around you during that time. In my opinion, it’s comparable to someone trying to overcome any other kind of addiction such as alcohol or drugs. If you are recovering from some kind of an addiction, then it’s highly recommended by professionals to stay away from others who are participating in these activities.
Is your environment setting you up for failure or success?
Here are a few tips to help in creating your culture:
- Surround yourself around other Healthy People.
- Read positive and encouraging books.
- Read books about living healthy.
- Get a personal trainer
- Talk to other people that are walking the walk.
- Sign up for some Health related newsletters. ( and read them )
- Just say NO to fast food. Just because your friends or family are going to a fast food joint, doesn’t mean you have to go. Stay away from it.
- Get a Health Coach. A good coach can make a HUGE difference. Personal Trainers are good, but I’m talking about a coach to help you in the other areas of your life outside the gym.
- Visualize who you want to be.
- Keep a Health Journal. Record all the great things that you are doing for yourself. Celebrate (not with food or alcohol ) your successes!
- Cut off all communications from NON supportive people.
These are just some examples of how to create a culture for Ultimate Health! When you have a supportive culture, it’s much easier to keep a positive attitude towards achieving greater health.

- Decide what you want. This may sound relatively easy, but you really need to look for some deeper answers. You will need to know specifically what you want. If it’s physical change that you are looking for then I would recommend getting with a fitness professional to help you determine exactly what changes you can make. Some people have a desire to lose a certain amount of weight, but in reality they don’t have that much to lose. It’s important to have a realistic approach to setting your goals and to know what changes your body will allow.
- Knowing “why” you want it. Again, this sounds like something relatively easy to determine, but to get the real answers you are looking for it may not be so easy. It is extremely important to ask yourself this question and maybe on a regular basis. There should always be a TRUE purpose to every action. To understand why you want something you must really ask yourself why you want it. Must of us think we know why we want something, but in reality if we check, we might be way off. If you think reasons like. To help understand this a little better I would suggest reading my ebook which you can get for free by simply asking for a copy at www.AskPatKing.com .
- Developing a Plan. You must have a specific plan of action as to how you are going to achieve your goals. What changes will you make immediately, what kind of changes can you make over time, who will help you and how long will specific things take are all things you will have to know.
- Take Immediate and consistent ACTION! You must be willing to start now. Stop thinking and just do. It’s human nature to keep finding excuses as to why we can’t do something and these things will keep preventing us from getting where we want to go and getting what we want. It’s important to identify these thoughts, be aware of them when they come in to our minds and replace them with positive thoughts. Again, you can learn more about this by reading my ebook, just ask me for a copy at www.AskPatKing.com. You will also need to take consistent action, this means being willing to identify things you could have done better on a daily basis and be willing to change them. A helpful tips is to give yourself a gut check before you go to sleep at night. Ask yourself, “did I give my health 100% today? Did I do everything I could to become the healthy person that I deserve to be? What can I do better tomorrow?” Ask yourself these questions every night and be honest with yourself. Write down your answers in your journal and read them in the morning to remind yourself what you have to do better that day. If you are serious, do this it will help tremendously. Hold yourself accountable.
Whatever you want in your life you can have. Follow these simple steps in every approach to striving for a goal, put a 100& in to it and you will succeed.
