Natural bodybuilding requires no substances were used to enhance the creation of the muscles. This type of bodybuilding is much more difficult. Competitions that involve this type of bodybuilding require contestants to undergo various types of testing including drug testing , polygraph, and blood tests. They thoroughly look at all tests to provide verification that no substances were used by the bodybuilder. They use the same types of testing methods as the Olympics.
To compete in this division, most competitions require the individual to be free of substances for a minimum of 5 years. In addition to the above testing, each competitor must have 2 letters of reference stating they have not used any type of enhancement drugs during the past 5 years. If a competitor is found to have used drug enhancements, they are banned from all competitions for the next 2 years.
Judging in natural bodybuilding competitions is made up of several areas. Muscle balance, called symmetry is judged. Deltoids are compared to the size of calves. Barrel width of the chest is compared to the width of the thighs. The size of the hips is compared to the sweep of the back. The judge is looking at the overall effect of all the parts together rather than focusing on the size of particular areas. This being said, it is best to work on all areas of definition that to work on building up certain areas.
The next part of judging is presentation. This includes how the individual carries himself, grooming, posture, and the types of posses that the competitor uses. The judge will be looking for a flow from one pose to another. The judges will want to see how the competitor can display their physique in connection with their overall appearance.
Shape and size of the muscles are a very important part of the judging process. The size should be exceptional and the shape should be appealing. Judges will be looking for a distinct separation of each muscle being displayed.
The total scores in all three of these areas are combined to determine points. The winner at the end of the competition is the one with the most points. Natural bodybuilding is much more intense and difficult that traditional bodybuilding. It requires harder workouts and a stricter diet. There are also stricter qualifying guidelines, but the winners as well as competitors in these competitions know they did all the work themselves without any supplements. They should be very proud of that.

Bodybuilding for men has been a competitive sport since the 1800?s. Women got involved in the mid 1900?s. The newest addition to the mix is teen bodybuilding. One advantage is teens involved in this sport learn about discipline and how to set goals for themselves. Both of these are great attributes that they can apply to any area of their life.
Proper training is very important for teens involved in bodybuilding. Their bodies are still growing, so it is important not to lift too heavy. Injuries occur if they attempt to lift too much. This is likely to happen when they think with their ego rather than their mind. Most teens in this sport get involved in basic weightlifting at home or at school in physical education class. They then choose to take it to the next level. With proper training, it can be a great physical investment.
Teen bodybuilders should only train 3 to 5 days per week. The body needs to rest because it is still growing. Training more that that will make bodybuilding a harder process. It will actually work against you. These work out sessions should never exceed 60 minutes. It is recommended to train each part of the body only 1 time per week. Compound exercises such as bench pressing, squats, shoulder press, rowing, and deadlights will yield the best benefits. The key is to balance volume and intensity. The higher the volume, the lower the intensity should be. If you are working at a high intensity level, then the volume should decrease.
Teens can become frustrated with the slow process of bodybuilding. It is important that they are educated in the effects so that they won?t do damage by over working or give up because they feel they aren?t going to be successful at bodybuilding. Teens will gain strength before they gain size. Over time, their size with then begin to increase as their strength increases. Diet is not a huge issue with teen bodybuilders because most have a high metabolism. However, it is recommended that they eat balanced meals and eliminate many sugar filled items including soda. Lean meats, apples, vegetables, yogurt, and peanut butter are some healthy foods to incorporate into the diet of teenage bodybuilders.

Bodybuilding requires strength, endurance, and training. It also requires strict dieting to loose body fat. For males, the amount of body fat needs to be reduced to 6%. Females need to reduce their body fat to 12%.
Most bodybuilders and their trainers choose not to look at is as dieting. Instead, they view it as eating health and nutritious in an effort to perform at the top of their sport. The key is the types of food eaten because body builders need to increase the amount of calories by about 500 to 1,000 daily. As the size of their muscles increase, the calorie intake may also need to increase beyond that.
Bodybuilders are encouraged to eat 5 to 7 meals per day. This provides their bodies with the proper nutrients to perform throughout the day. The meals should be eaten every 2 or 3 hours. Professional bodybuilders have trainers and meal planners to make this regiment easier. It is much harder for those trying to balance all of these issues on their own. Eating this type of diet at these time intervals generally increases the metabolism of bodybuilders as well. It also helps keep blood sugar levels regulated.
Myth has it that bodybuilders avoid carbohydrates. They eat them to help release energy in a steady stream rather than in spurts. Carbohydrates also help the body recuperate from the training regiment. Some bodybuilders choose to eat quick digesting sugars after their workouts. It is believed this process recovers the glycogen in the muscles.
Proteins are a very important part of a bodybuilder?s diet. Lean meats and chicken are staples in their diets. Other types of protein include eggs, nuts, and beans. It is recommended that they eat 1 to 2 grams of protein per pound of body weight to help with building bigger muscles. This figure is very controversial. Some expert?s claim that is too much protein intake for some of the larger weighing bodybuilders to be consuming and it can lead to heart problems. Everyone is in agreement that it is important for protein to be consumed within 45 minutes of a workout and within 1 hour of going to sleep.
Some bodybuilders prefer to get their extra protein from supplements. Especially those who are vegetarian. These supplements allow proteins to be absorbed into the body quickly. The supplements are in a pill form, or a powder that you mix into a glass of water. These protein supplements often get confused with performance enhancement products on the market. They are two entirely different types of products used for different results.
Diet and nutrition are very important parts of bodybuilding. It is best to do your research in this area or hire a trainer to take care of it. It appears this area of bodybuilding is as important as the act of training and lifting.

Bodybuilding is an exciting area of competition that involves the mental ability to work your body into unbelievable shape while developing masses of muscle. Bodybuilding competitions take place all over the world. This sport was generally a male only arena, but it the past few decades it has expanded to women and now even into teens. In these competitions, judges evaluate the aesthetic appearance of each contestant, and assign points.
Bodybuilding involves an in depth daily workout as well as restrictive diet. To be effective, males have to reduce their body fat to 6%, and women have to reduce theirs to 12%. A combination of diet, cardiovascular workouts, and target specific trainings are key to effective bodybuilding.
Bodybuilding became a sport in 1880, but grew to be competitive in 1930. Eugen Sandow is referred to as the Father of Modern Bodybuilding. He was a bodybuilder who allowed others to watch his workouts to strengthen his muscles. Later he competed in matches with other men to display their strength. He is also credited with the invention and sales of the first dumbbells and exercise machines. Sandow created a formula for the ideal physique, and worked his body to meet that criteria.
The first bodybuilding competition was organized by Sandow. It took place in 1901, in the United Kingdom. It was called the Great Competition. The turnout was unbelievable. Thousands of viewers were turned away. Some wanting to compete were also turned away because too many showed up. In 1904 the first bodybuilding competition in the United States took place in New York. The prize was $1,000.
Bodybuilding interest exploded in the United States in 1950 when the National Amature Bodybuilders Association (NABBA) began the Mr. Universe contest. While the contest took place in the United Kingdom, people of America saw a new sport that excited them both to watch and to be a part of.
Today, the most prestigious body building competition to win is Mr. Olympia. This competition began in 1965. The winner receives a bronze statue of Sandow. Bodybuilders from all over the world come to compete in this well publicized event. With the introduction of Ms. Olympia contests in 1980, the sport continues to grow. The quest for the best and strongest bodies continues to be met with a tough group of competitors.

Professional bodybuilding is a sport for both men and women. While bodybuilding competitions allow them the opportunity to compete and display their work, the amount of work that goes into their bodies to get into such shape is unbelievable.
When professional bodybuilders are asked what advice they can offer, they often say to work hard. Most will tell you that the reality is very few individuals will ever make it professionally in bodybuilding, so make sure you complete your education. Their words aren?t meant to be discouraging, rather to put the whole thing into proper prospective.
To be successful as a professional bodybuilder, you have to be passionate about the sport. You have to eat, breath, sleep, and life bodybuilding. It is an ongoing process daily. Those who are the most successful at it don?t see it as work. They enjoy the workouts and the diets. They look forward to getting up and spending that time in the gym. They enjoy working with their trainers and challenging themselves physically and mentally. The also enjoy researching new ways to enhance their workouts.
In addition, your body must be ready for such physical endurance. You need to have a complete medical evaluation prior to starting. You then need to regularly follow up with check up and monitoring of heart rates. Unfortunately, as in many other sports, if you are not in good physical condition, you will not be able to continue with training.
Being a professional bodybuilder takes dedication and determination. It requires a healthy body and the endurance to continue improving your overall performance. If you don?t become a professional, you may still find bodybuilding an area of interest for you in regards to physical fitness and ability.
