A group of researchers from Australia have recently debunked the popular belief which says that a good spirit and a positive outlook can help in the recovery of Cancer. This came up as a bad news for those cancer patients who are battling with their lives only with their spirit. The study, conducted by these researchers has attacked the old notions that used to encourage the patients.

The Melbourne specialists accept that their findings may not please many cancer patients, specially those who have been doing their best to fight the disease with their positive attitude, but it may satisfy those who blame themselves for their slow recovery. The specialists informed that there are many cancer patients who beat themselves for their cancer relapses. So this study brings some relief to them, because it says there are several other medical factors responsible for the slow or fast recovery of the disease.

The research says that no attitude can help in the recovery of this dreadful disease. The specialist announced that Cancer cannot be influenced by the positive or negative thinking of the patient. So there is no point cursing yourself or trying to please yourself under a false assumption that your attitude can help you recover faster.

708 women suffering from breast cancer were involved in the study. These women were observed for the period of eight years. It was noted that their level of anxiety, avoidance, feelings of hopelessness, did not contribute in their recovery and about one fourth of the women died over the period. Contrary to what the earlier research says, this research proclaimed that the women who were more anxious about their recovery got a faster relapse than those who were more depressed. When the situations were studied more comprehensively, it was discovered that the reason behind the relapse was the size of the tumor.

One of the specialist said that any correlation between positive attitude and quick recovery was not found. Ian Olver, the chief executive officer, of Cancer Council Australia also researched on the same issue with some lung cancer patients and he also came up with the same conclusion. He also observed that the recovery or relapsing is not at all associated with the good or bad attitude of the patient.

The researchers further said that a positive attitude can always improve the quality of life but it has no control over the recovery.

Usually when someone feels uncomfortable or awkward in social situations is when It’s considered Social Insecurity. In many cases this cases awkwardness in all kinds of different social situations. This is also the cause of people feeling self conscious and having feelings of inadequacy.

How does this relate to your physical health? Well, if someone doesn’t feel comfortable in social situations, then it is VERY unlikely that they will want to participate in physical activities such as exercise. In most cases exercising is done in a social environment such as a health club, gym or if exercising outdoors maybe park. Because of this most people facing this challenge are A LOT less likely to exercise.

In my opinion, this is one of the main causes of the obesity epidemic in America. I have worked in the Health and Fitness Industry for 12 years and 10 of those years were spent inside the four walls of a health club or gym working directly with people that were faced with this awful dilemma. I can’t count the number of people that I worked with who have admitted this as being the main reason they have not done anything to improve there health. What about all of the people who wouldn’t admit it. How about all the people who never even stepped foot through the door to seek assistance? The number of people faced with this is likely STUNNING at worst.

So, what’s my point in all this? If this is you, then you need to take action and fight this problem. Your health is the most important thing that you’ve got. You must break free from these fears so that you can live the life you deserve! One way to do this is to be around people all the time. I know that it sounds crazy, but face the problem head on! This is one of the best ways of overcoming your fears! Go to the mall, visit your friends all the time, go to the park and talk to people, go to the movies or parties! You have to force yourself to interact with others no matter how terrible it may feel at the time.

Since I’ve recognized this problem within our society I’ve done a little research and talked with some psychologists about it to determine what people can do to overcome this. In many cases it can be overcome by continuing to put yourself in social situations. By repeating these things over and over in many cases it will eventually get better. For some people, it’s a much deeper challenge to overcome.

If you try these things and you find that it’s not getting better, then you should seek the help of a therapist or a psychologist. This is nothing to be ashamed of. We all face challenges in our lives and need help working through them sometimes! It’s only as big of a deal as you make it out to be. Your health is way too precious to let this little challenge hold you back from living an extraordinary healthy life that you deserve! You must take immediate action to overcome this, otherwise your total mental and physical health will continue to deteriorate!

The absolute worst thing that you can do is to ignore this challenge! You can’t afford to ignore it. We as human beings are meant to be social. Once you recognize this and start to overcome it, you will notice that you are going to feel a lot happier overall!

It’s up to you. Nobody can make this decision for you. You have to take immediate action. Get out there and talk to some people, join a gym and talk to a therapist if you have to! Do it for yourself, your family and the people that you love in your life who may depend on you for any reason. The world needs you. GO!

As many of my readers know, I am a HUGE fan of Anthony Robbins and the work he does. Since huge part of my drive and direction of this site is the “mental fitness”, I thought I would share this new interview with Anthony Robbins.

Some of the highlights of the Anthony Robbins Interview:

1. How depression occurs when our life fails to match up with what our expectations may be.

2.
How Anthony Robbins himself has reached bottom in his own life.

3. Anthony talks about his tumor and facing a fatal situation in his life.

4. He talks about his work with Mike Tyson.

5.
Anthony’s message to the people “My message to people is, look, it’s not easy. But nothing in life is permanent, no problem is permanent. Your soul’s permanent. Nothing is so pervasive that you can’t recover from it if you change your psychology and you’re willing to do something to get out of yourself.”

These are just a few of the awesome things that he speaks about. Enjoy! :-)

Well, as much as I love to write my own articles……on occasions I find something else that’s worth publishing and this is one of them! I really drive home the importance of exercise for your brain with my clients and thought this article was great so I shared it with them and now i am sharing it with you. Just as research has demonstrated how important physical exercise is to aging well, experts now say there are things we can do to reduce our risk of mental decline, or even reverse it. It’s called the mental workout, and as baby boomers search for more ways to enjoy their longevity, interest in it is beginning to explode. As we age, most of us can live with a little bit of physical decline but we want to maintain our cognitive abilities. So what can we do about it?

That’s a question that all of us should be asking. It’s estimated that about 5.1 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease, including 4.9 million people age 65 and older. The Alzheimer’s Association predicts that by 2050, the number of people age 65 and over with Alzheimer’s could range from 11 million to 16 million.

Fortunately though, brain plasticity studies have shown that the brain can “rewire” itself into old age, and even add new cells in response to stimulation. Researchers say some people may have a better shot of maintaining their brain health by adopting a few preventive strategies, such as using computer programs, learning a new language, playing chess, doing crossword puzzles, playing scrabble or leaning a new skill or craft.

Learning a new musical instrument, for example, has been found to have a protective effect against cognitive decline, even in those younger than 65, according to the 2001 report “Achieving and Maintaining Cognitive Vitality With Aging,” sponsored by the Institute for the Study of Aging and the International Longevity Center-USA, among others.
