Pregnancy is a special time in a woman’s life. She goes though many changes emotionally and physically, these changes can get tough to handle at times, there are various aches and pains, mood swings, sleeping problems etc. How does one take care of it? The answer is, through exercise.
This answer may surprise you as a pregnant woman is told not to exercise. Truth is, a woman is not to “exert” herself. There are many exercises a woman can do which can prepare her for childbirth and her life after it, exercise during the pregnancy can reduce stress and mood swings, it can boost your energy levels, lift your spirits and help you sleep better, at the same time the exercises let you prepare for your delivery.
The workout should help you manage your weight, prepare your muscles without causing you exertion, and it should keep your heart pumping at a regular rate. Always consult a doctor before going on an exercise regime as some exercise may not suit you. Certain cardiovascular exercises like walking, swimming, dancing, low impact aerobics help keep a woman fit, while strength exercises like yoga and weight training make her supple.
Walking is one of the best exercises not just for women but for everyone, pregnant women are advised not to jog on concrete surfaces or on sand as it may affect their knees.
Swimming is the best means for a whole body workout, it helps to maintain cardiovascular activity and it strengthens the muscles at the same time. A woman feels lighter in the water; it provides her body some rest. Dancing, on the other hand is one of the most enjoyable means to stay healthy during pregnancy, the songs will lift your mood and you get to share am intimate moment with your partner, the child’s consciousness will also positively be affected by the music.
Low impact Aerobics are best done in classes, these workouts are perfect for mothers everywhere as they get to socialize, and get to talk to other mothers, another advantage is that since that classes are scheduled you don’t get to miss a workout and there is a professional trainer who males sure that you don’t over do it.
Flexibility is also a major concern for moms to be, yoga is a highly recommended method to increase flexibility, Yoga has special poses just for pregnant women, it tones the necessary muscles, and allows for a better mental being by reducing stress. Yoga with a swimming and walking can make for a really health pregnancy. Stretching is the best way to keep the body agile, it makes a woman relaxed and there is less chance of a muscle strain.
Those pregnant women who were into weight training before pregnancy, can continue, but the weights used should be reduced, good technique and precaution should be taken while using weights, also make sure an experienced trainer is their, to guide you.
Always make sure that you are to get yourself checked by a doctor regularly during the pregnancy exercises. These exercises can surely lead you towards a healthy childbirth.

All people need vitamins to sustain good health. In fact women are often found deficient in some or the other vitamin. So, yes believe that women need to better supplement their intake of essential vitamins.
Vitamins are found in a lot of food material that we eat in our day to day life. However, due to unhealthy lifestyle, most of us these days do not eat right kind of food and deceive our bodies from essential vitamins.
I make it a point to include as many food items, rich in different Vitamins as I can in my daily diet. I recommend you to do the same as it is very effective. I want to give you in-depth information about the individual vitamins and the food that contain these vitamins in ample amounts. Daily vitamin dose for the women should ideally include:
Vitamin A
Vitamin A helps in maintaining good eyesight, healthy cell membranes and smooth skin. It also helps in stimulating the body’s immune system and fastening the process of wound healing. It is also required for the formation of growth hormone as well as the bones. Not only this, Vitamin A also helps in avoiding defects at the time of giving birth if you take it in adequate amounts during pregnancy. You can take Vitamin A from naturally dark orange products like Carrots as well as from dark green vegetables like broccoli.
Vitamin B Complex
Vitamin B complex include thiamine (Vitamin B1), riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Niacin (Vitamin B3), Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6), Folic Acid (Vitamin B9), Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) as well as Choline, Biotin and Pantothetic Acid. These vitamins help in balacing the homocysteine levels of the body which further protect the artery walls. Vitamins are also important for optimal health of the heart in women.
I get my dose of B complex from green vegetables like Broccoli. This helps in keeping your hair and skin healthy. Meat is also a great source of Vitamin B, thus a number of vegetarians are often Vitamin B deficient.

Vitamin C
Vitamin C is responsible for keeping the skin youthful and healthy. If you take Vitamin C regularly, it can reduce the risk of loss of cartilage as well as reduce the pace of osteoarthritis progression. You can get Vitamin C through all citrus fruits such as Orange, Lemon and the like.

Vitamin D
I researched on Breast Cancer with some other eminent scientists and found that those women who receive adequate exposure to sunlight as well as Vitamin D are at a lesser risk of developing Breast Cancer in comparison to other women who are deficient in Vitamin D. Exposure to sunlight helps in the formation of Vitamin D naturally within the body, which is essential for joints and bones. It can also be obtained from egg yolks, fish, liver and other similar food products.
Vitamin E
My research on health benefits of Vitamin E proved that it supports functioning of the heart, muscles, nerves, cells, hair and skin. It is also effective to treat depression and anemia. You can find Vitamin E in whole grains as well as seeds and nuts.

Vitamin K
I have read that Vitamin K works wonders for the health of bones and reduces the risk of fracture of the hip bone. It also aids clotting of blood and is thus given to patients before surgery. You can have your daily dose of Vitamin K from green leafy vegetables and dairy products.
Vitamin X
Now what is ‘Vitamin X’? Have you ever heard about it? Before you start your research, let me tell you that Vitamin X is nothing but a humorous name given by a few doctors to ‘Exercise’. Though it is not a vitamin, it is fantastic for your good health. It is called ‘Vitamin X’ to remind you to get a daily dose of exercise along with a daily dose of Vitamins as well.

Today is National Go For Red Day. Everyone is encouraged to wear red today to help remind us that the number one killer of women is heart disease. The campaign is aslo set to remind women to get their annual check up from their physician.
In my own experience with heart disease at a the ripe age of 31 I say this, don’t wait until you are laying in a hospital bed to get a check up. Heart Disease is a big killer of americans and the Number One of women. Symtoms or not, get a check up annually. Surely a premature death awaits a lot of us if we do not take care of our bodies. The choice is yours.
Heart disease is not only a Man’s Disease!
Imaging this……It’s a beautiful day. The sun is out. You’re out in the garden pulling a few weeds when your chest begins to hurt.
You can’t catch your breath. You’re sweating. These are the classic signs of a true medical emergency — a heart attack.
Men and women both experience these symptoms. But if you are a woman, there is a good chance you will ignore them.
Premenopausal women benefit from lower rates of heart disease. Perhaps that is why they believe that heart disease is a “man’s disease” and ignore their symptoms.
After age 45, however, heart disease rates in women begin to rapidly climb. By age 65, one in three women has heart disease.
Men usually complain of “crushing” pain or “tightness in the chest,” whereas women complain more often of a “burning” or “squeezing” pain in ther chest area. In many cases a feeling of “upper abdominal fullness” is another way that women often characterize chest pain that could be a sign of a heart attack. Also, in many cases the pain that women experience is also less severe than that of men.
These signs usually make it easier for a woman to chalk up the signs to a bad case of indigestion.
Awareness in many areas of health related issues for women such as breast cancer is rapidly growing, but Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women. More women than men die each year of heart disease. Women are six times more likely to die of heart disease than of breast cancer.
Still think you don’t need an annual check up?

In addition to chewable calcium supplements, calcium added to vitamins and calcium pills and capsules, another option for calcium replacement is a liquid calcium supplement.
The primary benefit of liquid calcium as a supplement is that it is designed to be more easily absorbed by the body. In addition, most liquid calcium supplements are enriched with other vitamins and minerals designed to make the body process the calcium more efficiently.
The primary add ins for the supplement are Vitamin D and magnesium, both of which assist in the digestion of the calcium and in the manner in which the body uses the calcium. Health food promoters claim the supplement can help with everything from menstrual cramps to fighting disease and virus. Most of these claims are unproven.
However, liquid calcium can be used to ease an upset stomach, as it has a neutralizing effect on stomach acid and like any calcium supplement can be instrumental in combating long-term disease and physical degeneration such as osteoporosis.
As with any supplement, the real test of liquid calcium is in the comfort it provides to the user. Liquid calcium is often given in soft gel capsules, making it easier to take than chalky calcium carbonate tablets and not requiring chewing at all for those who are not averse to swallowing pills. Many people begin a regiment of supplements but fail to continue to take them because they have difficulty with the means of taking the supplement. For example, if an iron supplement leaves behind a nasty after taste, people are less likely to take it.
An advantage of the liquid calcium capsules is that there is no after taste or leftover grittiness after taking the recommended dosage. The recommended dosage of liquid calcium, like all calcium supplements, should be dependent on calcium intake from other sources and the amount of elemental calcium each capsule provides.
Calcium in various forms makes up 2 percent of the human body and thus its replenishment is vital for human health. Advertisers promote the healthy teeth and bones aspect of the mineral, but often neglect the information that calcium keeps all the major muscle groups, including the heart, contracting and releasing at the proper momentum.
Liquid calcium is a more convenient form of calcium supplement for some users. The choice is primarily one of convenience and likeliness that it will be used regularly.

Much attention has been placed on calcium supplements in the last few years and most Americans are encouraged to take a daily calcium supplement. Several of the most popular calcium supplements are a form of calcium citrate and a for of calcium carbonate, but the important issue is not which one to choose. Rather, the important ideal is to take whichever one according to the directions and in a manner that promotes the absorption of the calcium.
Calcium is absorbed in the intestine and different stomach conditions promote better absorption. Calcium citrate, contained in products like Citracal, does not require an especially acidic stomach to break it down, so it can be taken at any time of the day.
Calcium carbonate, often found in acid-reducers like Tums, requires stomach acid to break it down enough that it can be absorbed and is best taken after meals.
Either is an acceptable form of calcium supplement, as are vitamin supplements containing calcium, but consumers must be aware of that the calcium absorption is based on the amount of elemental calcium in the supplement, not the milligrams of the supplement itself. For example, some calcium citrate pills contain 500 mgs of calcium citrate, but only 200 mgs of elemental calcium. The USDA recommended 1000 mgs of calcium per day for adult women is based on elemental calcium.
Since calcium can be found in many natural sources, it may not be necessary to take all 1000 mgs of elemental calcium in the form of a supplement, but those who rely on supplements for calcium intake should be aware of the difference.
Recently, some producers of calcium have also made claims regarding the calcium supplements that are not backed by research by the Food and Drug administration.
Among these are claims that coral calcium is a healthier way to take calcium and that it may promote other health benefits in addition to simply replacing calcium not absorbed through normal diet. Coral calcium is simply another form of calcium carbonate and has no proven dietary benefits other than as a source of calcium.
Persons considering calcium supplements should consider their own lifestyle in choosing a supplement and should avoid calcium citrate if they are prone to acid-reflux disease. For those persons, calcium carbonate may also provide the added health benefit of reducing stomach acid.
