It should come as no suprise that sometimes we eat when we are stressed. Think about this…………..
How much stress is in your life? Are you stressed multiple times per day? Are you stressed out all day?
How about this, some people say that they don’t eat when they are stressed. Well, that may be even worse. It is common for people to not eat during the day as they deal with the stress of work. By not eating all day, your metabolism slows way down.
Once your metabolism comes to a screaching hault by the end of the day, then you go home and endulge in a nice big dinner. Even though you may have consumed less calories by not eating all day, your body will store more of it as fat because your metabolism is not working to burn it off.
So my take is, not eating from stress and eating when stress can both make you fat!
My recomendation is find a way to release some stress. Exercise is great, yoga, meditation or even just finding a few minutes during the day to just quiet your mind will help. Last but not least……Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff!
Some say it’s all small stuff!
Stress may kill you in many different ways………for god’s sake let it go man!







You’re right. Too much stress…. and too much snacking! That’s the case for me.
I have an idea fro a great stress reliever, but she just doesn’t seem to want to comply all that often!

lol, before I even read the post my mind was already screaming YES from the title.
I’m guilty of both, I go back and forth between eating too much and eating too little and it us pretty much always related to stress. I’m that kind of person that gets stressed about everything, I honestly don’t think I’ve had a time when I didn’t feel stressed since I started a family.

You shouldn’t be so stressed, life is to short and we could exit at anytime.

@rainer’s, yes I would meditate before eating….even just for a couple minutes to really think about the food you are about to eat and welcome the nutrition in to your body. It always amazes my how the mind and body are connected and how what we eat effects us as both.
I’m not sure if what’s making fat is stress or eating too much but I’ll go with the eating too much option since I don’t stress myself too much.

yeah, I tell myself that all the time LOL. I did try to start meditating once before, signed meditation CD’s out of the library and everything, but I’m really bad at sticking to things. We’re 3 weeks away from moving and I plan to make a lot of changes once we’re settled, learning to deal with my stress is very high on the list.

@Jolene - I know sometimes it’s hard to stick to things and change is painful sometimes, but just keep your goals in mind and make some small changes each day until you can really get to a point where you are ready to dive in!
@ Joan- Good dark chocolates can be good for you in small portions.
