You have to lose weight and you are not sure of the next step, but you have really been thinking about trying some kind of diet pills. If this is you, you’re not alone. According to a recent study almost 50% of adults (mostly women) consider diet pills for their weight loss solutions. Over 25% of teenage girls are using diet pills to lose weight.
So, do diet pills work?
If you have this idea that diet pills are going to be the quick fix for weight loss, then I have some REALLY bad news for you – not only are diet pills ineffective in losing weight permanently they can also KILL you! It’s important to remember that healthy lifestyle changes are the only safe and proven methods for weight loss.
In case you haven’t really noticed, Americans are getting more and more over weight. Recent statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that about one-third of the population is overweight.
But, do diet pills work?
So if you are determined to lose some weight, then don’t turn to diet pills. Ignore all the hype that you might see on tv and read in magazines that are plastered with biased articles promoting diets pills. Stop reading magazines…..this is a topic for another time.
You will not feel very good when taking these diet pills and some of the side effects are nothing short of scary and in some cases life threatening.
The Scary Side Effects of most diet pills!
Heart Palpitations
High Blood Pressure
Dizziness
Blurred Vision
Headaches
Insomnia
Anxiety
Depression
DEATH
So, you think that you want to take these diet pills to look more attractive? If you want to take diet pills to look more attractive you better forget it! Dietary fat blockers found in many of these pills can cause gas, diarrhea and uncontrollable bowels. Diet pills can also cause dry skin and hair loss from the vitamin deficiencies. So attractive right????
Hello……Do diet pills work though?
Does it really matter? The truth is that there is many conflicting studies as to whether or not these actually work. That’s a topic for another time. My question to you is, are you willing to put your health at risk for something that at best will make you feel like crap?
So the answer to “do diet pills work”? Who cares!

And no… diet pills don’t work.

I think diet pills can work to help you lose the weight, but they just have more potential side effects then it’s worth. Yes I want to lose weight, but not at the risk of hurting my health in other ways.
My husband and I actually take fiber pills, they help to give the fuller feeling like some of these diet pills are supposed to, but we’re actually putting something into our body that I know we need and most of us don’t get enough of anyways(I know we don’t).

We just got back from a cut short vacation, today I start on some type of diet. I was going to go get some pills (hadn’t decided which yet) but now that’s off my list. I’ll work up some type of weight loss plan for myself, no clues except it won’t include pills!

it does work but comes along with a lot of risk and at the time you stop taking the pill, no more loosing weight and might return to being fat again and worst double what you loose.
Thanks for all that great information. I believe that people need to be warned about the dangers of diet pills. I had been warned against them since I have a heart condition. Taking them would be especially bad for me. I also agree that a change to a healthy eating lifestyle is the only one that will last!
Diane Declet’s last blog post..How Good Are Herbs For Your Health?
Hmmmm,…. I guess I’m one of the old-fashioned types. I always strive to stick to what grows out of the ground.
And if I can take an “herbal supplement”, then that’d be for me - but then, I’d go out and grow the stuff myself. How else can I keep precise tabs on what goes into me, after all?
If I want to speed up my metabolism to burn calories all the more while I do some mountain biking, or deep woods hiking, or whatever, I’ll drink some Chinese black tea, and/or Oolong, for example.
Quick fixes and unnerving side effects go hand-in-hand.
Just my 2 cents ^_~
By the way, Pat, thanx for your hard work and iformation!
Have a nice weekend!

@Jolene - Yeah…they can work when combined with diet and exercise, but offer way too many risks. Fiber pills are generally good and do provide several benefits.
@Mommie- That’s a good call. Don’t go in to a weight loss plan looking for some quick fix. Keep it realistic and set yourself some short and long term goals.
@Afgime- I don’t think I would worry about finding “fatter” pills
You’ll be fine.
@Joan - You are correct, along with the side effects comes the likelihood of gaining it all back rapidly and that alone is REALLY bad for your body.
@Diane - You are quite welcome.
Yes, people should be warned about these types of products. It’s my goal to more in depth reviews of things like this.
@Falling Down Laughing- Some herbal supplements are good, but you still need to be weary when trying to lose weight. If you are trying to lose an excessive amount of weight, this puts your body through some serious turmoil shall we say. It’s important not to add and other stress to it and instead provide it with more nutritious things like extra vegetables and such.
Green tea is also great for speeding up the metabolism and losing weight.
Quick fixes all have dangerous side effects. In fact, the idea of a quick fix is a side effect in it’s self. This approach plays hell on your body and will not give you the desired long term results that you are looking for!
and…..you are quite welcome for all the information. It’s truly my pleasure!
what exactly do you recommend for a healthy diet other then a daily exercise.
